Greetings!
Yesterday, we received notification from Alberta Health Services regarding a tentative date to begin resident vaccination at our facility.
We ask that all residents wishing to receive the vaccine mark their schedules for Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021. Please keep in mind that this will be the 1st of 2 doses needed to complete the full cycle of vaccination required for protection from COVID 19. Generally, the 2nd dose of vaccine is administered approximately 3 weeks following the initial dose but can be extended up to 42 days.
Unfortunately, at this time we do not have information as to the type of vaccine to be given nor the hours of operation for the clinic.
Residents wishing to be vaccinated will be required to present their Alberta Health Care Card and give verbal consent to accept the injection on the day of the clinic. In the event a resident is not their legal health decision maker a written signed consent must be obtained by their authorized decision maker prior to the February 23rd. Forms for consent can be obtained from the main office if required.
It has also been indicated to the Centre that depending on the supply of vaccines available not all residents may be able/eligible to receive their inoculation on this date. Should this be the case only residents 75 years of age in this calendar year or older will be entitled to receive the vaccine on the 23rd. As your operator, St. Andrew’s is advocating continuously to ensure that all residents can be vaccinated at this time.
We will update everyone as we receive more information on the above event. Should you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact the main office at 780-452-4444.
Warm Regards,
Wanda Beaudoin
Chief Operating Officer
